Determination of Lead and Strontium Isotope Ratios in Wines by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry
نویسندگان
چکیده
Thirteen wine assortments from Romania were investigated from the point of view of their metal content and isotopic ratios Pb/Pb and Sr/Sr. The determination was performed by ICP-QMS. The aim of this study was to detect and quantitatively determine the toxic metals in some white and red wine samples and to investigate them from the point of view of isotopic ratios Pb/Pb and Sr/Sr. Six metals with toxicology significant concentration were identified, from which nickel (16 μg l to 94 μg l) are perhaps originating from the technological procedure of vinification (fermentation in stainless steel tanks). Traces of Pb (2 μg l to 47 μg l), Hg (value reported in a sample of wine 200 μg l), As (0.3 μg l to 12 μg l), Cd (0.08 μg l to 1.4 μg l), Cr (46 μg l to 400 μg l) were also found. The Sr/Sr ratio depends on the geographic location of the soil where the plants grew, so that it can be used as a tracer of wine origin. Pb/Pb and Pb/Pb ratios could be significantly influenced by anthropogenic factors. These ratios may be used to differentiate natural and anthropogenic Pb contamination. It seems that for the wines studied, the lead content comes from natural Pb.

Determination of 137Ba Isotope Abundances in Water Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma-optical Emission Spectrometry Combined with Least-squares Support Vector Machine Regression
A simple and rapid method for the determination of 137Ba isotope abundances in water samples by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) coupled with least-squares support vector machine regression (LS-SVM) is reported. By evaluation of emission lines of barium, it was found that the emission line at 493.408 nm provides the best results for the determination...
متن کاملFrom volcanic rock powder to Sr and Pb isotope ratios: a fit-for-purpose procedure for multi-collector ICP–mass spectrometric analysis
Geochemical research into volcanic rocks often involves isotopic analysis of whole rock powders. The method of Deniel and Pin (Anal. Chim. Acta, 2001, 426, 95-103) for simultaneous isolation of strontium and lead using extraction chromatography via Sr spec resin was therefore adapted into a straightforward procedure for Sr and Pb isotope ratio determination by multi-collector inductively couple...
متن کاملDetermination of cadmium and lead in urine by electrothermal vaporization isotope dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
Electrothermal vaporization isotope dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ETV-ID-ICP-MS) was applied to the determination of Cd and Pb in urine samples. The isotope ratios for each element in each analytical run were calculated from the peak areas of each isotope. A relatively low vaporization temperature was used, which separated the analyte from the major matrix components an...
متن کاملDetermination of Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb in ®sh samples by slurry sampling electrothermal vaporization inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry
Ultrasonic slurry sampling electrothermal vaporization isotope dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (USSETV-ID-ICP-MS) has been applied to the determination of Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb in several ®sh reference samples. NH4NO3 was added to the sample solution to work as a modi®er. Since the sensitivity of the elements studied in ®sh slurry and aqueous solution was quite different, isot...
متن کاملStrontium isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) of tooth enamel: a comparison of solution and laser ablation multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry methods.
Strontium isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) in tooth enamel provide a means to investigate migration and landscape use in humans and other animals. Established methods for measuring (87)Sr/(86)Sr in teeth use bulk sampling (5-20 mg) and labor-intensive elemental purification procedures before analysis by either thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) or multicollector inductively coupled plasma ma...
